How to Work at Home-Really!

The first step towards working at home is actually believing it is possible. No matter how much the traditional nine to five employees who make up your circle of friends try to tell you differently, it can happen.

Oh, and just so you know, most of the people who try to tell you it is impossible to make money at home are just jealous. They probably also secretly wish it was possible but never took the time to find a way to make it happen.

How to Get Started

Besides making it happen, in order to work at home you need to know how to get started. It takes determination but it also takes a bit of direction and skill. You need to have a plan.

For instance, maybe you can start a side business that can supplement your full time income for the time being. Part of your funding for this side business may be provided by your full time job at least temporarily.

Then, as you make more and more profit and you expand your customer base you may then be able to let go of your job. Before you do so, it is wise to save up at least a little bit of money in case of an emergency-like perhaps at least one month’s worth of money for basic expenses such food and rent and/or money for unforeseen emergencies.

Types of Work at Home Professions

There are many different types of work at home professions of which you can become involved. These include employment in hair and nail salon services, operation of an online retail store, or sale of homemade crafts.

Other opportunities to work at home (whether it is via home-bases business or as a payroll employee) include as follows:

Virtual assistant-In this role you would answer phone calls, generate reports, keep records, or write letters. You may also be in charge of certain technical support duties if you are in a position that requires those types of skills.

Graphic artist-If you are making money offering these services usually you would work on a for hire/contract basis. You do the job and then get paid for it and then after-wards complete another job.

You probably will serve one or more clients on a regular basis and be awarded temporary jobs from time to time. Usually you would provide logos for businesses and you might be responsible for creating original clip art for website pages and/or brochures.

Web designers-A person who receives jobs might also work on a for hire/contract basis. It helps to have some knowledge of various web programming languages and not just be using easy site building programs if you are going to make real money in this field. You are usually involved in pursuits related to creating professional-looking websites for clients.

Freelance writer-A person who works in this position is often outsourced in a similar way as a web designer or graphic designer. You receive writing assignments, and most of the market today is in writing content and copy for web pages.

You could also submit creative stories or poems to literature magazines and journals or you can find work as an online journalist. You could also become a full time blogger for a living.
